Thieves' Treasure Detected

STOLEN goods including guns, jewellery, household appliances and expensive electronic appliances were seized during a raid in Mayfield last night.

Police executed a search warrant on a house in Hanbury Street about 6pm.

Officers were stunned to find a "significant" amount of stolen property hidden inside.

"We're talking about several trailer loads of stolen property," a police spokesman said.

Detectives found several firearms along with top-quality plasma screen televisions and home entertainment systems, lawnmowers and other household goods.

It is not known what kind of firearms were found in the house.

Police spent much of the evening loading the cache of stolen goods onto trailers.

No one was home at the time of the raid and police are still looking for the occupants.
